LOCAL: Eat Around Manette
Manette has an amazing little foodie scene!
This tiny Bremerton neighborhood enjoys a tight-knit community, a walkable business corridor, and an enviable selection of amazing restaurants and eateries.
Boat Shed Restaurant
Locals know and love the Boat Shed! This staple seafood restaurant has fantastic food and killer views and you can literally sail your boat up and dock. The outdoor seating on the enormous deck is best enjoyed drink in hand and has been a summer favorite for 30+ years. Enjoy fresh seafood under the eye of the Manette Bridge and its steady trickle of traffic and pedestrians. The sunsets are epic and so is the food: fresh crab, perfectly shucked oysters, crispy fish and chips, tasty steamers, beefy burgers, and more.
saboteur bakery
This hole in the wall somewhat punk rock bakery is producing some of the very best artisanal pastries and breads on the West Coast. Saboteur was 2020 James Beard Award Semi-Finalist - putting this local favorite for all things delicious and fresh baked on the map. Open Thurs-Sun 8am-2pm, you have to come early to assure you get the goods…word has gotten out! Jump in line and score something heavenly.
Hound and Bottle
Hound & Bottle isn’t so much a restaurant or bar as it is an intimate bubble of all things that make life worth celebrating. The service is excellent (some of the best you’ll find on the KP), the ambiance invites introspection and conservation and the food is unique, inspired and varied - seafood lovers, vegans and carnivores alike will delight in rotating options such as fresh Dungeness crab cakes, vegan lentil sloppy joe, grilled peach and burrata and a cast iron grilled pork prime rib chop. Combine these gut-pleasing gastronomical feats with the craft cocktail alchemists making magic behind the bar and you have the perfect recipe for an experience you won’t forget. Many people remark that H&B is the type of place that you’d expect to see leading the scene Seattle - how lucky are we that they’ve chosen to serve the good folks of Manette??!!
Chaos Bay Brewing Co
Chaos Bay Brewing Co. (formerly known as Der Blokken) holds it down with small-batch craft beer and a solid lineup of grubbin’ pub food and killer pizzas in the heart of Manette. A chill, cozy vibe makes gathering with friends for beer and food effortless. The portions are plentiful and the pizza lineup will have you coming back to try another…plus any place that serves Schnitzel AND Poutine has our vote!! They brew and offer 7 year round beers and 1 seasonal selection - a mix of IPA’s, Belgian Ale’s, Porters, and Pale Ales - there is something brewing for every beer lover. And the fact that it’s family friendly makes this dad happy!
Khao Soi
The consensus on this small, modern Thai joint is: TAKE ALL OUR MONEY! There isn’t much that an amazing panag curry or pad see ew or a steaming bowl of tom ka soup can’t cure and Khao Soi is serving up these beloved Thai staples (and much much more) to an adoring customer base. The betel wraps and the calamari are our favorite way to start a meal and when the weather is good the outdoor patio seating is the place to be. Watch the world pass by on the the Manette Bridge and sip on a refreshing Thai iced tea. This place is the cherry on top of the neighborhood’s food scene and really rounds out the culinary offerings of Manette.
Larry + Kristi’s Bakery
Doughnuts to die for. No, that’s not quite right.
Doughnuts so good they will melt your face…hmmmm, no.
Doughnuts that make you check your pulse because you’re pretty darn sure you just died and went to heaven? Closer…
How about ‘legendary fresh doughnuts made by four generations of bakers using original recipes’? How ever you describe Larry and Kristi’s Bakery you’re describing Kitsap’s best darn doughnut makers. Larry and Kristi’s Bakery also whips up amazing scones, cookies, pies, and much much more including espresso. But those doughnuts ya’ll….!

‘Beer,’ said the oft quoted Benjamin Franklin, ‘is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.’ We would wholeheartedly agree while adding wine and whiskey to the list! Kitsap (and the PNW in general) is known for its craft beer, spirits and local wine and there is no place that best represents Kitsap’s boozy side than the city of Poulsbo!
“I dream about color and I love that I get to make my dreams reality! Creating, making something out of nothing. I love taking what some see as trash and using it to help create my next mixed media portrait!”
“ I can’t imagine growing up without the ability to get lost in the forest and see the ocean in the same afternoon. The people and community in Kitsap are awesome, warm and welcoming. I’ve always been proud to be from Bremerton.”
Beth is a force to be reckoned with, caring for her tiny human by day and saving lives by night. That seems like a lot but then there is Cactus and Clay, her small-batch side hustle which she runs out of her garage.
She sets the table and invites all (or as many as she can fit since her events often sell out) to the table.
These days organic foods can pretty much be found at most mainstream grocery stores…no specialty store is necessarily needed. For this list, we focused not only on organic but also local, farm-driven, community-focused stores that offer an abundance of healthy natural options.
