A little bit about Beth + Cactus and Clay:

Beth is a force to be reckoned with, caring for her tiny human by day and saving lives by night. That seems like a lot but then there is Cactus and Clay, her small-batch side hustle which she runs out of her garage. She’s passionate about sustainability and recycling, as she’s worked these practices into her business model right from the start. She also donates a portion of her sales to at-risk youth in our own community.

Wow! Beth you are an inspiration to all of us in Kitsap!

Thank you for all the ways you work hard to love, live + thrive in Kitsap!

what do you love about what you do?

“When I’m sitting at my wheel, the world goes quiet. Hours feel like minutes. I get completely lost in the work in front of me (in a good way). It’s my happy place.

I think the most rewarding aspect of my craft is knowing that my pieces will find their way into people’s homes and lives, to be used and cherished.”

how long have you lived on the kitsap peninsula?

“My family and I have lived in Kitsap County for 3 years and it immediately felt like home.”

what is your favorite AREA IN KITSAP?

“Well, mine!

I live within walking distance of downtown Poulsbo. My family and I often walk the waterfront park in the evening, watching the light show in the sky reflect off the water and listening to the church bells toll. It doesn’t even feel real.”

what are your favorite spots to eat/drink?

“I am so into 4 Sister. I could literally move in and eat every meal there. In fact, if they are ever looking for a 5th sister, I am the gal. I highly recommend their pork/chicken bánh mi and their bun bo hue. Life. Changing.

Also a big fan of Butcher & Baker Provisions. Always outstanding food. Always.

My favorite spot for drinks is Hitchcock on BI. They have a creative menu that is different every time I go.”

what Kitsap dish are you currently craving?

“Tacos from El Balcon.”

what do you love most about the Kitsap Peninsula?

“I love the sense of community. I came from a big city where you never bumped into friends at the grocery store or knew the name of your UPS guy.

It’s different here. People go out of their way to be kind and be a part of something bigger than themselves. It’s a special place and I feel so blessed to call Kitsap home.”

shout out another kitsap maker!

“Oh man, where to begin?  I’ve been drooling over the gorgeous woven wall art that Kate Justice Cofer makes. I just loaded up on Christmas cards made and designed by Jessica at Sowing Ground. I’m also a big fan of the wax/encaustic work that Theresa Stirling creates. There are so many talented makers in the area! I’m just scratching the surface.”
