About Lisa

What was your first job?

“Buck’s A&W Port Orchard 1992-1994.”

Where do you draw inspiration/creativity in your life?

“This is a really good question! So much of what I do is drawn from nostalgia and tradition but I try really hard to put a piece of my style in every item I send out. I have a goofy sense of humor and collect vintage toys, hopefully, it comes across in my designs.”

About The Night Owl Bakery

How did the idea of starting The Night Owl Bakery begin?

“I have been a pastry chef for over 25 years. There was a lot of pressure to start my own bakery but I wasn’t settled in a community that I felt supported so I came home (I grew up in Port Orchard), and it has been game on ever since.”

The Genesis

Tell us the story of how The Night Owl Bakery came to fruition.

“About 3 years ago I got really sick, I still struggle with it unfortunately, but didn’t want to give up what I truly love to do. Pete (my fiancé) and I had been together for several years at that point and we decided to get engaged and build this beautiful life.”

Tell us what/who drives you to keep working hard towards your goals.

“Haha!! I think about this a lot. I want to believe it is more than just ego. The creative process is something I can’t live without so we figured out the best way to let it rise to the top I think. We also love giving back to the community, and find tremendous reward in the mutual support we all share.”

Love Kitsap

Tell us your fave local drink spot - coffee, tea, wine, tequila, whatever!

“My favorite local coffee is Frenchie Coffee Roasters, but they’re only available online. They do roast locally and pop up at events. My favorite artist is Jessica from Sowing Ground in Bremerton, also The Kitsap Community Food Co-op.”

Tell us your fave local spot for a comfort meal - what do you always order?

“We love Sourdough Willie’s in Kingston— handmade pizza with sourdough crust, I’m drooling, we are kind of purists- pepperoni and cheese please.”

Live Kitsap

Out of town guests are coming for the weekend. What is the most important thing you share with them about Kitsap? Where do you absolutely have to take them?

“We like to do a driving tour, go out for coffee at Coffee Oasis, drive along the waterfront to see Gobi - Port Orchard’s camel, and Manchester State Park. We also love to take small picnics to Guillemot Cove and go get Minterbrook Oysters or take a ferry ride and watch for whales.”

Thrive in Kitsap

Where are your favorite place(s) to get outside. What do you do when you go?

“There are great parks everywhere. I am always drawn to the Sound. We walk the beach at Southworth as often as we can. Our dog Alice pretty much runs our lives so we try to take her somewhere daily, she’s a mini dachshund/Shiba Inu/Pomeranian mix, so sweet and wiley lol.”

our connections + friendships with local brands, businesses + entrepreneurs is something that makes living in kitsap truly unique. You aren’t just supporting a business, you’re growing relationships.
